Success for Llanwenog & Pontsian at Ceredigion YFC’s English Public Speaking

Ceredigion Young Farmers Clubs held their annual English Public Speaking competition at Felinfach Memorial Hall on Saturday & Sunday the 4th & 5th of December.

The adjudicator for the Reading competition for members 14 years of age and under was Miss Gwawr Lewis, Carmarthenshire. 6 teams competed and the results were as follows:
Chairman – 1st Lois Jones, Talybont; 2nd Bethan Rosser, Llangwyryfon; 3rd Teleri Evans, Llanwenog A. Reader – 1st Fflur McConnell, Mydroilyn; joint 2nd Glesni Rees, Llanwenog A & Lois Jones, Talybont; Team – 1st Talybont; 2nd Llanwenog A; 3rd Mydroilyn.

The adjudicator for the 16 years and under competition was Cllr. Andrew James, Llangadog. 7 teams competed and the results were as follows: Chairman – 1st Eos Dafydd, Caerwedros B; 2nd Lisa Jenkins, Pontsian; 3rd Alaw Silvestri-Jones, Caerwedros A. Speaker – 1st Erin Trysor, Llangeitho; 2nd – Daniel Evans, Pontsian; 3rd – Noa Harries, Caerwedros B. Vote of Thanks – 1st Elan Jenkins, Llanwenog; 2nd Osian Dafis, Caerwedros A; joint 3rd Rebecca Rees, Pontsian. Team – 1st Pontsian; 2nd Caerwedros B; joint 3rd Caerwedros A & Llanwenog.

Mr Peter Llewellin, Pembrokeshire was the adjudicator for the After Dinner Speaking for members aged 28 and under and there were 7 teams competing. Results are as follows:
Chairman – 1st Endaf Griffiths, Pontsian; joint 2nd Aron Dafydd, Bro’r Dderi & Meirian Morgan, Llangeitho. Speaker – 1st Cennydd Jones, Pontsian B; 2nd Beca Jenkins, Pontsian C; joint 3rd Lauren Jones, Llanwenog & Elen Davies, Pontsian B; Team –1st Pontsian B; 2nd Pontsian C; 3rd Pontsian A.

Congratulations to Llanwenog YFC & Pontsian YFC as they finished the day as winners gaining the greatest number of points overall and winning the Emrys Jones Challenge Cup, with Mydroilyn finishing 3rd.

Best of luck to all the winners that will represent Ceredigion at the All Wales English Public Speaking Competition on the 27th of March 2022 held in Builth Wells.
