Llanwenog Y.F.C. wins Ceredigion English Public Speaking!

Ceredigion Young Farmers Clubs held their annual English Public Speaking competition at Felinfach Education Centre on Sunday the 6th of December which was kindly sponsored by Gwasg Gomer Press.

The adjudicator for the Reading competition for the members of 14 years of age and under was Mrs Viv Newman, Llandysul. 9 teams competed and the results were as follows:

Chairman – 1st  Beca Jenkins, Pontsian A; 2nd Ifan Davies, Felinfach A; 3rd Elin Davies, Llanwenog A. Reader – 1st  Beca Jenkins, Pontsian A; joint 2nd  Hanna Davies, Llanwenog A and Hanna Parry, Pontsian B; Team – 1st   Llanwenog A ; 2nd Pontsian A; 3rd Pontsian B.

The adjudicators for the 16 years and under competition were Mr and Mrs Tomos and Elin Davies, Carmarthen.  10 teams competed and the results were as follows: Chairman – 1st Ffion Evans, Llanwenog B; 2nd Catrin Rees, Mydroilyn; 3rd Marged Ioan, Caerwedros; Speaker – 1st Nest Jenkins, Lledrod B; 2nd Iwan Evans, Llanwenog B; joint 3rd  Heledd Evans, Caerwedros A and Rhys Davies, Llanwenog B; Vote of Thanks – 1st Rebeca James, Llanddewi Brefi; 2nd Sara Patterson, Caerwedros B; 3rd Wiliam Jenkins, Lledrod A; Team – 1st Llanwenog B; 2nd Caerwedros A; 3rd Lledrod B.

The Brainstrust competition was for members 21 years and under and the adjudicator this time was Mrs Nanna Ryder, Cwmsychpant. There were 3 teams competing and here are the results:

Chairman – 1st Sioned Davies, Llanwenog; 2nd  Martha Dafydd, Llangeitho; 3rd Angharad Evans, Mydroilyn; Speaker – 1st Meleri Morgan, Llangeitho; 2nd Bleddyn McAnulty Jones, Llangeitho; 3rd Lauren Jones, Llanwenog; Team –1st Llanwenog; 2nd Llangeitho; 3rd Mydroilyn.

Also Mrs Melda Grantham, Llandysul was the adjudicator for the Senior Debate Competition for members aged 26 and under and there were 6 teams competing. Results are as follows:

Chairman – 1st  Elen Thomas, Pontsian A; 2nd  Lisa Jones, Pontsian B; 3rd Elin Jones, Llanwenog; Speaker – 1st Endaf Griffiths, Pontsian B; joint 2nd Luned Mair, Mydroilyn and Cennydd Jones, Pontsian A; Team –1st Pontsian A; 2nd Pontsian B: 3rd Llanwenog.

Llanwenog YFC won the Emrys Jones Challenge Cup as the club having gained the greatest number of points overall, with Llangeitho coming 2nd and Pontsian in 3rd position.

 

Best of luck to the winners which will represent Ceredigion in the All Wales English Public Speaking Competition on the 2nd of April 2016 in Builth Wells.
